Just two away from impressive record
Coventry finish campaign on Saturday
WHAT HAPPENED?
Wright scored his latest goal of an impressive season in a 2-1 defeat for Coventry against Ipswich in the Championship. The 26-year-old latched onto a pass from Kasey Palmer before firing a low shot into the back of the net. Wright now has 19 for the season, which is the most by a USMNT player in England's top two leagues since Dempsey scored 21 in the 2011-12 campaign. THE BIGGER PICTURE
There's no doubt it's been a memorable season for Wright in his first campaign in England after moving from Turkish side Antalyaspor. Coventry have narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs but did make it all the way to the semi-finals of the FA Cup before losing a thrilling clash with Manchester United on penalties.
WHAT WRIGHT SAID
Wright spoke about his goal afterwards. He told the club's official website: "I think it was Kasey [Palmer] who played me through, and I felt I was in on goal so I took the opportunity to shoot and yeah it went in. Hopefully being at home last game of the season we can win. We need to leave with a good taste in our mouth and get ready for next season. It is very important to all of us in the dressing room. Being at home again, it has been a while since we won at home so we want to give the fans something to remember us by.”
