USL side Portland Hearts of Pine partner with Hollywood actor and former 'Grey's Anatomy' star Patrick Dempsey for 2025 'Bandit Kit'

Portland Hearts of Pine, the USL League One club based in Maine, has revealed their new away jersey for the 2025 season, officially named the “Bandit Kit.” The design draws inspiration from the city’s Valentine Bandit tradition and features a partnership with Hollywood actor Patrick Dempsey’s cancer support organization, The Dempsey Center.

“There’s something about seeing those hearts scattered across town - a quiet reassurance that, even in the cold and solitude, we are connected,” explained Hearts founder Gabe Hoffman-Johnson. “The Bandit Kit is a tribute to those unsung acts of kindness and the fabric of our community that make Maine so special. We hope it’s a reminder to cherish connections, spread love, celebrate the little things, and bring warmth and light to others, even in the darkest days.”

Dempsey, best known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd in Grey's Anatomy, is a renowned figure in Hollywood. Beyond his career as an actor, Dempsey has also made a name for himself in motorsports, competing in various racing events.

The Maine native is also well known for founding The Dempsey Center in his hometown of Lewiston. Inspired by his mother’s battle with cancer, the non-profit organization provides free support, education, and wellness services to anyone impacted by cancer.

It is truly special for the Dempsey Center to partner with Hearts of Pine as we celebrate community and spread the word about our mission to provide support for loved ones with cancer,” said Dempsey.

Portland Hearts of Pine will make their USL League One debut in the 2025 season with their first game set to be against FC Naples on March 29.
