  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Liverpool supporters have reacted angrily to footage of the event, but it has been described as a 'barbecue' - put on by the player himself rather than the club - despite the many activities and attractions that apparently formed part of the day.

The Athletic's James Pearce tweetied: Liverpool did not ‘throw a party’ for Trent Alexander-Arnold. There was a barbecue at the AXA Training Centre on Friday. Trent put it on to thank teammates and staff. Similar to what Roberto Firmino did before he left in 2023. Standard stuff for a departing senior player."

  • HOW THE FANS REACTED

It's safe to say fans online were left unimpressed by the event. One user, @LFCRetro_ posted: "Canny wait to see the back of that egotistical cobra and his ghastly family."

Another, @lfcsge93 added: "Can him and his family f*ck off now? Hopefully Real Madrid fans tear him a new one."

@KayLFC05_ took aim at the club for trying to hide the 'barbecue', posting: "Interesting how the club tried to keep this under wraps and not post this anywhere on social media."

And @P4ul1e called on fans to continue booing the defender, saying: "An absolute embarrassment. Let's the boos continue".

Finally, @HamzahP22 posted: "Bye Trent , I wish you nothing but the absolute worst in your future".

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The 'barbecue' appeared to have a lot of activities and entertainment on offer for guests. There was even a man with a flamethrower roaming the grounds, alongside several fairground games and Alexander-Arnold-themed goodies, including cakes.
