Super sub Tim Weah's goal spearheads Juventus victory over Yunus Musah and AC Milan in USMNT derby in Serie A

U.S. men's national team winger Tim Weah helped spark Juventus to victory over AC Milan on Saturday, as the Bianconeri defeated the Rossoneri 2-0.

Weah, brought on at halftime, immediately provided a sense of urgency in their attack over the final 45 minutes - helping create a high-tempo press in the attacking-third that led to two quick goals for Juve in the second half.

Samuel Mbangula opened the scoring for the Old Lady in the 59th minute, and then Weah scored in the 64th minute to double their lead. A brilliant ball from midfielder Khephren Thuram fed the American, who cut in on his favorite right foot from the left wing to slot the ball into the bottom-right corner for a 2-0 lead.

Fellow U.S. international Weston McKennie started the match for Juventus, logging 90 minutes from fullback. For Milan, USMNT teammate Yunus Musah was deployed at right wing, and tucked in centrally over the final 30 minutes, while Milan's Christian Pulisic missed the contest due to injury,

Weah scored his first goal for Juventus since Nov. 9, marking his fifth goal of the campaign in Serie A. Across all competitions, he has registered eight goal-contributions for the Bianconeri.

McKennie, meanwhile, had a lights-out showing in a fullback role, keeping a clean sheet against a talented Milan attack featuring the likes of Musah, Rafael Leao and Tammy Abraham. The USMNT midfielder has been playing out-of-position for the Bianconeri of late, proving his versatility for the club and manager Thiago Motta.

In their first meeting this season, Juve and Milan played to a dull 0-0 draw in a contest that featured all four American stars. With Saturday's result, the Old Lady also extend their unbeaten streak in Serie A to another matchweek. Motta's side have yet to lose a domestic league match this season.

Milan return to the UCL next week, hosting La Liga side Girona on Wednesday - with Pulisic looking to return if fitness allows. Juventus, meanwhile, travel to Club Brugge in Belgium on Tuesday in the UCL.

The Rossoneri sit 12th in the competition standings, while the Bianconeri sit 14th. Both teams will be searching for a crucial three points as they look to climb up the competition standings.
