    THE BIGGER PICTURE

That is because the France international claims to be owed €55 million (£47m/$61m) by the Ligue 1 title holders. He is said to be due the final payment of a €36m signing bonus, the last three months of his salary and an ‘ethics bonus’ for the period of April-June 2024.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Le Monde claims that Mbappe’s lawyers have referred the matter to the legal committee of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and, through an intermediary of the French Football Federation (FFF), to European football’s governing body at UEFA.

    WHAT NEXT?

The LFP legal committee have the power to impose a transfer ban on PSG until the situation has been resolved. With Mbappe also inviting UEFA into the case, they can cancel a club’s licence in continental competition – which means PSG could potentially be prevented from gracing the Champions League until the matter with Mbappe reaches a satisfactory conclusion.
