Roberts was handed an initial three-match ban after a kung-fu kick on Mateta during Millwall's defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup. Now, the goalkeeper has been given an extra three games on top of the initial suspension, the Football Association (FA) announced.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Roberts has mainly operated as Millwall's back-up goalkeeper this season, but will now not be eligible to play for the club until April, when his side play Sheffield United. Meanwhile, Palace boss Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Mateta's recovery is going to plan.

  • WHAT GLASNER SAID

Glasner said: "Mateta is doing well. He is at home and his recovery is going well. He had no fractures or concussion. Healing from the huge wound is going as we expected. He will go to Marbella with us next week and be just training individually. If everything goes how we wish, he will be available versus Fulham [after the March international break]. We lost JP in this game – we can’t play him tomorrow – but it’s not too bad."
