Manuel Pellegrini reacts to Man City's 115 FFP charges as manager who delivered the club's second Premier League title makes 'really happy' assessment

The Premier League champions are facing 115 charges of allegedly breaching financial fair play regulations, resulting in calls for them to be hit with severe sanctions, with some critics even saying they should be relegated from the English top-flight.

Pellegrini, who managed City from 2013 to 2016 and guided the club to just the second Premier League title in their history, has maintained that success always breeds criticism and insists the fans will be happy with how the club is run.

"I am sure the fans of Manchester City are really happy with the way the club works and the way they play and the trophies they have won during all these years," the current Real Betis boss said to BBC Sport. "Always you have criticism about a lot of things."

The case surrounding City and the financial charges is expected to drag on for some time due to the number of charges, but it has been reported that the legal trial will begin in the autumn. In the meantime, City will aim to defend their Premier League crown in the coming season, starting with a trip to Stamford Bridge to meet Chelsea on August 18.
