'Keep changing the chef, the soup will never taste right' - Man Utd urged to give Ruben Amorim more time as Patrice Evra predicts former club will 'shock people' in 2025-26

After a nightmare campaign in the 2024-25 season, where the Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League and lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, manager Amorim went on a spending spree in this summer transfer window, in a bid to bolster his squad. The Portuguese coach particularly focused on the team's attack as he signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and the blockbuster signing of RB Leipzig sensation Benjamin Sesko. 

While Amorim did sign Patrick Dorgu in the last January transfer window, the summer one was truly the first proper window that Amorim got to rebuild his team. Now, as per former United star Evra, Amorim must be given time to establish his system among his players, while suggesting that changing managers won't solve any of the club's existing issues.   

Speaking to Stake.com, Evra said: "With United, you never know. One day they make you dream, the next they break your heart. But if they get that old fighting spirit back - the one where players bleed for the shirt - they can shock people. It’s about consistency, not Instagram moments. Football is a jungle. When results don’t come, the manager is always the first to go. But if you keep changing the chef, the soup will never taste right. Give him time, but at United, time is expensive."  

The Red Devils will aim to bounce back after the Gunners defeat and register their first win of the new campaign as they take on Fulham away from home on August 24.
