Man Utd 'consider selling' Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho amid PSR trouble with academy graduates valued at £70m

For a cash-strapped United, the potential windfall from selling the duo is hard to ignore, especially with their combined market value surging due to their high potential. Mainoo and Garnacho's estimated £70 million valuation offers a significant financial boost for a club grappling with a bloated wage bill and an urgent need to generate revenue.

The Athletic and the Guardian have both backed up the Mail's claims that United could sell the duo, with the latter adding Rasmus Hojlund is also for sale.

Garnacho, once viewed as a cornerstone of United's future, has found himself on the fringes under new head coach Ruben Amorim. The Argentine winger has struggled to adapt to the 3-4-3 formation, leading to his omission from the starting lineup in the last five matches - which has made him a more likely candidate for departure.

The situation with Mainoo is also complicated. The 19-year-old midfielder, who has attracted interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea, is locked in a contract dispute with United. He is reportedly seeking a deal worth £200,000 per week, a figure the club is hesitant to meet as they aim to reduce their wage expenses.

United have already been working to offload high earners such as Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, and Antony, making it challenging to accommodate Mainoo’s demands.
