Haaland is here to stay! City striker Erling close to mammoth new deal that will see him replace Kevin De Bruyne as club's highest-paid player

Currently, the Belgian midfielder is City's best-paid player, reportedly taking home £425,000 a week. In comparison, Haaland's basic salary stands at £375,000 per week, which already places him among the club's top earners. However, the structure of the forward's contract includes a series of performance-related bonuses, which could potentially elevate his weekly earnings beyond £850,000. Nonetheless, the new deal could see him earn €24 million (£20.5m/$27m) net per season, according to a report byMarca.

Rumours have linked Haaland with a move to Real Madrid in the past, but Los Blancos' summer acquisition of Kylian Mbappe impacts that. While a Mbappe and Haaland strike partnership would prove highly entertaining, Haaland might have the Premier League's top goalscorer record in his sights if he does pen a new deal with City.

City manager Pep Guardiola has been a vocal advocate for Haaland since his arrival at the club. Whenever questioned about the Norwegian’s place in his tactical system, Guardiola has consistently praised the forward's abilities and reinforced his importance to the team.
