    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Haaland had a night to forget, as his individual stats from the match prove. The City star again served as Norway's captain in the absence of Martin Odegaard, but this one didn't go as well as his previous outing with the armband - a 3-0 win against Slovenia in which he scored a brace to become Norway's all-time leading goalscorer.

  • WHAT HAALAND SAID

"Sorry everyone, this was far too bad on my part," Haaland wrote on Instagram after the defeat. "In November, we go for six points."

    WHAT NEXT FOR HAALAND?

The 24-year-old, who also received criticism for his behaviour after the match, is eyeing six points when Norway face Slovenia and Kazakhstan in next month's international window. Before then, he'll hope to maintain Manchester City's unbeaten start to the season, with a trip to Wolves to come on Sunday.
