How England's Lionesses should line up vs Haiti in 2023 Women's World Cup opener: Red hot Rachel Daly deserves to start while Ella Toone gets chance to find form

England will get their 2023 Women's World Cup campaign underway on Saturday, with the European champions set to be heavy favourites against a Haiti side that certainly has its fair share of talent but is still ranked outside the world's top 50 and is making its debut in the competition.

There have been a lot of questions around the Lionesses' starting XI going into this tournament. In defence, centre-back and captain Leah Williamson is out, so that's one position that needs to be filled, and Rachel Daly has now asserted herself as a centre-forward after playing every game at left-back during the Euros last year, so that is another role up for grabs.

Ella Toone hasn't been at her best for England since establishing herself as a starter in the midfield so her place could be under threat, while there is a lot of competition across the entire front three, too, as Lauren James, Chloe Kelly and Lauren Hemp all bid to start out wide and Daly, Alessia Russo and Bethany England battle to lead the line.
