Cristiano Ronaldo to get new manager! Stefano Pioli to leave Al-Nassr after trophyless season in Saudi Arabia - with CR7 set for fifth head coach in two-and-a-half years

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner completed a trend-setting move to the Middle East on the back of his commitments with Portugal at the 2022 World Cup, making his debut for new employers in January 2023.

Ronaldo is working on the most lucrative contract in world football, but has found tangible success hard to come by. Despite maintaining remarkable individual standards, with 97 goals recorded through 108 appearances, just one trophy has been landed with Al-Nassr.

They are poised to end the current campaign empty-handed, as they sit third in the Saudi Pro League and suffered an AFC Champions League semi-final defeat to Kawasaki Frontale. Italian coach Pioli is set to pay the price for those failings with his job.

According to Calciomercato, Pioli will be relieved of his coaching duties at the end of the season. There is a break clause in his contract, which was due to run until 2027, that can be triggered this summer.

That will leave Ronaldo waiting on the appointment of a fifth coach during his spell at Al-Nassr. He joined under the tutelage of Rudi Garcia. Dinko Jelicic spent time as caretaker coach, before Luis Castro joined his fellow Portuguese in Riyadh. Pioli is now set to depart after eight months at the helm.
