Conor Gallagher's replacement?! Chelsea eye shock £20m move for Celtic star Matt O'Riley but midfielder has severe reservations over move

The Blues are continuing to be active in the transfer window as Todd Boehly looks to give new head coach Enzo Maresca all the tools to compete in the Premier League. After banishing Gallagher from first-team training, the west Londoners are looking to Celtic's O'Riley to take his place, according to The Sun.

The report states that the Danish ace has reservations about a move to Stamford Bridge as he wants to be guaranteed a starting spot, which may be difficult at Chelsea. There are plenty of other clubs also interested in the 23-year-old including Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Brighton.

O'Riley clocked 38 goal contributions in 49 games for Celtic last season. The two-cap international scored 19 times and recorded 18 assists, including three in the Champions League. He was a driving force for the Hoops as they charged towards another Scottish Premiership title.

Head coach Brendan Rodgers has been firm with his stance on selling his star midfielder and says unless the asking price is met, O'Riley will be going nowhere. Chelsea may have to fork out over £20 million (€23m/$26m) to secure his services.
