Chelsea have announced the arrival of defender Sarr from French side Strasbourg, with the 19-year-old signing an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge. He has arrived just in time for the Club World Cup and The Athletic report he is expected to be part of Enzo Maresca's squad for the tournament in the United States this month.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Centre-back Sarr made 28 appearances in all competitions for Strasbourg during the past season, helping them secure qualification to the Conference League play-off round. He was previously on the books at Lens and Lyon, making his professional debut for the latter in 2023.
Sarr has received lofty praise from Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior, who recently said: "I could talk about him for hours. His nickname is Mamadou Rosenior, he's my son.
"It's scary to show such performances at 19 with such calm in the face of such strong teams. He just has to stay humble and calm and he will be a top player for sure."
