GettyTHE BIGGER PICTURE
The report mentions that Barcelona have set a price tag of €50 million (£43m/$59m) for Casado, well above his estimated market value of €30m (£26m/$35m). Chelsea, known for aggressive investment in youth and long-term talents, are understood to be keen on Casado, whose profile fits their ongoing squad-building philosophy. However, they’re not alone, with Atletico Madrid also believed to have inquired about the 20-year-old’s availability.
Getty Images SportWHAT NEXT?
Despite Barcelona’s €50m asking price, Casado’s release clause remains set at €100m (£86m/$118m), an amount unlikely to be triggered given his current squad status. Moreover, the Blaugrana's engine room is brimming with talent, making it increasingly difficult for fringe players like Casado to break in. With Gavi, Pedri, Dani Olmo, and Fermin Lopez already jostling for starting roles, squad competition is at an all-time high. Hence, a meaningful opportunity might convince Casado to depart, which will be the right step for his development.
