Forgotten Chelsea man Armando Broja finds deadline day escape route as striker completes Premier League loan move

Broja will spend the duration of the 2024-25 campaign with Everton, who have an option to make the transfer permanent next summer. That potential fee, if they choose to trigger it, is reported to be around £30 million ($39.4m).

Broja was involved for Chelsea during pre-season but was ultimately part of a group of players not part of the picture under new manager Enzo Maresca. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, failing to score in eight appearances, and has netted only three times in 38 Chelsea outings. Soon to turn 23, his best returns have been at Southampton (nine goals in 38 games in 2021-22) and Vitesse Arnhem (11 goals in 34 games in 2020-21). If Chelsea do sell him permanently next summer, it will help the club financially due to his homegrown roots, meaning the fee can be registered as 'pure profit' for PSR reasons.

Kevin Thelwell, director of football at Everton said: "Having monitored Armando's journey for a number of years, we're very pleased to have been able to bring him to the club. Armando is still a young player who has already built up some impressive experience but someone we also feel has lots more potential to be unlocked. First and foremost, we will work with him to get him fit as soon as possible. Then, his addition will strengthen our options in the attacking department."

At Everton, Broja will compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Beto and Youssef Chermiti to help lift the Toffees out of the relegation zone ahead of what looks to be another scrap near the foot of the Premier League table. But he will have to wait until after he has recovered from an injury to make his debut.
