Ancelotti has been expected to leave Real Madrid at the end of this season, as Los Blancos have struggled for results despite their fantastic summer transfer window. However, after the 15-time European champions were humiliated by Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final, reports have suggested that the Italian will depart later this month after Madrid's Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
Real Madrid have been interested in Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso for the last year and a half, but did not make a move for the Spanish coach last summer. However, The Independent has also reported that Los Blancos are now set to move for their former midfielder to take on the job of head coach. Additionally, they plan to coordinate their transfer plans with Alonso's systemic plans.
WHAT NEXT FOR ANCELOTTI?
Real Madrid have one more game in hand before they take on Barcelona, who have had their calling card this season, in the Copa del Rey final on Sunday, April 27.
