Bayern Munich to receive Alphonso Davies payout! German giants entitled to FIFA compensation after Canada star sustained serious injury on international duty

Davies was expected to have a big decision on his hands this summer as his contract wound down with the Bavarians, but he signed a new deal with the German giants last month and was expecting an easy summer. However, the Canada captain has now picked up an ACL tear and will be set to face the rest of the season on the sidelines and will have to spend the summer recuperating.

German publication SPORT1 has reported that Bayern Munich are now entitled to compensation from FIFA as Davies picked up his injury during the international break, when Canada won against the United States. FIFA's Club Protection Program ensures that clubs are compensated for the loss of their players during international duty.

FIFA Club Protection Program's compensation payments are calculated based on the salary of the respective player. The maximum amount FIFA can pay out to clubs is €7.5 million (£6.2m/8m).

The Canada captain is set to be out for the rest of the season, and it is likely that Davies will also have to miss the start of the 2025/26 campaign. As for Bayern, they will now have to figure out how to set up without the left-back.
