Antoine Griezmann to MLS is on! LAFC 'make progress' in deal to sign Atletico Madrid star with France international offered deal to become second-highest earner in MLS

The California club have made progress in their recent talks with the 33-year-old, according to L'Equipe. Griezmann is available at a paltry €10 million (£8m/$11m) this summer due to a clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid, where he has one year left to run on his deal amid reports the club will not offer him an extension.

LAFC have made an offer to Griezmann's entourage which would make him the second-highest earner in MLS behind Inter Miami hero Lionel Messi, the report says. The attacker has been open about his desire to play in MLS before he brings an end to his career, making a move this summer a real possibility.

Griezmann would be the third France international to make the switch to LAFC after seeing goalkeeper Hugo Lloris sign for the club in January this year before striker Olivier Giroud joined from AC Milan in the current transfer window.

Griezmann will consider the offer from the MLS side and make a decision on his next step. He could opt to make the move this summer or spend another year with Diego Simeone's team before embarking on an American adventure.
