'You couldn't script it' - Andre Onana drops a howler to prove Nemanja Matic was 'f*cking right' that Man Utd goalkeeper is 'worst in history' as Red Devils fall behind in Europa League clash at Lyon

Ahead of United's Europa League first-leg quarter-final in Lyon, midfielder Matic branded Onana as "one of the worst goalkeepers" in the Red Devils' history. The Cameroonian hit back with a jibe about winning more trophies than the Serbian at Old Trafford but those words came back to haunt him when he got Thiago Almada's free-kick all wrong as United went behind in the 25th minute. That led to a deluge of criticism on social media, with some saying "you couldn't script it".

Doubt has been cast on Onana's long-term future at United for a while now, and this latest mistake will do nothing to quell that noise. Indeed, Opta states that no goalkeeper has made more errors leading to goals for Premier League teams in all competitions since the start of last season than Onana's eight.

It remains to be seen if Onana's days at United are numbered, with Altay Bayindir pushing for his starting spot.
