Victor Wanyama hands Tottenham Hotspur injury boost

Victor Wanyama is progressing with his rehabilitation from injury, according to Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The 26-year-old has been on the sidelines owing to a cartilage knee injury he suffered in Spurs' 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on August 20.

The former Southampton player, who has been an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino's team since his arrival from St. Mary's Stadium in June 2016, has missed the majority of this season, playing just 98 minutes in two English Premier League games this campaign.

Ahead of a busy festive period, the Argentine gaffer is elated with the midfielder’s recovery but failed to disclose a specific date for his return. “We’re positive, his knee is reacting well but it’s still too early to say when it’s possible for him to join the group,” Pochettino told the club's official website.

“We need to assess him day by day, week by week and we’ll see in the next few weeks if he can join the group. But yes, he’s in a good mood and we are happy so far. He has to keep working and if all goes well, hopefully he can join the group as soon as possible.”

Tottenham Hotspur are placed sixth in the English top-flight log with 25 points from 15 games and will welcome Stoke City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
