Brazilian striker Paulo Rangel has been cleared to play in Kedah's upcoming match following his recent transfer to the side, announced the club on Friday.

According to the club, Rangel's registration in the squad has been confirmed by M-League organiser Football Malaysia LLP.

Coincidentally, the Red Eagles' next match is against one of Rangel's former Malaysian club; Selangor this Saturday. The match is part of Malaysia Super League round twelve fixtures, and will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium.

The 33-year old played for the Red Giants in the 2014 season, joining them from Perak, and helped Selangor finish the season in second place on the back of his golden boot-winning 14 goal tally.

However, the Red Giants are no longer what Rangel may remember from his stint. They are currently in tenth place, and the last time Kedah played Selangor, their April 13 league clash in Alor Star, the hosts thumped the visitors 4-0.

He joined Terengganu in 2015, before signing for Johor Darul Ta'zim II in 2016 in a less-than-successful stint. In 2017 he returned to Brazil to play for Londrina EC, before playing for Nakhon Ratchasima in Thai League 1.

Rangel then chose to leave Thailand midway through the 2018 season, and has joined Kedah as replacement for misfiring Spanish striker Pablo Pallares.
