Alexis reveals how Arsenal starlet Nelson can reach the top

Alexis Sanchez has told Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson he must "learn from other players" if he is to reach "the very top of the sport".

The 17-year-old is yet to make his Premier League bow for the Gunners but has made three appearances in the Champions League this season and played 84 minutes of the club's 1-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Nelson signed a three-year professional contract last year having graduated from the Gunners' Hale End academy and is expected to feature in the top flight under Arsene Wenger this season.

And though Arsenal star Alexis recognises the teenager has some way to go until he reaches his true potential, the Chile international believes he is moving in the right direction.

“Reiss has real talent, but he still has a lot to learn from other players,” Alexis told Arsenal Player.

“From playing more matches and getting more experience. That’s exactly what the boss is providing for him, so that he can carry on improving as a player.

“He must train every day and get better every day. It’s all down to him whether or not he wants to end up at the very top of the sport."

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League standings, level on points with Chelsea, fresh from a 5-2 victory at Everton on Sunday.

Alexis was named in the Gunners starting XI alongside Mesut Ozil and summer signing Alexandre Lacazette for the first time, with the trio combining throughout and claiming a goal each.

Arsenal take on Norwich in this evening's Carabao Cup fourth round tie at the Emirates, with kick off at 19:45 (BST).
