The Brazilians can still hit a possible 82 points if they win all the remaining six matches; however, Mokwena is aiming at breaking a 71-point record. The feat was achieved by former coach Pitso Mosimane in the 2016/17 season, when the Brazilians also won their maiden Caf Champions League title.

It's there if you get it kudos if you don't get it unlucky and you try again next time," the 37-year-old told the media after a 5-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Thursday at the FNB Stadium."Why not go for the next target, every mountain is there to be attempted to be climbed and the moment you climb one mountain, you know what I always say about successful people and what I say about success, they look for another mountain to climb."So, why not go for 71 points and break that [record] because last season we got to 70, so it's possible, why not," he concluded.

WHAT MOKWENA SAID

Apart from the 71-point target, Sundowns could be the first team to finish the season unbeaten if they remain consistent. In the 24 games played, the Brazilians have recorded 19 wins and five draws with second-placed Stellenbosch managing to collect 49 points from 26 outings.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sundowns have already won the African Football League (AFL), PSL, and are aiming at making it three by winning the Nedbank Cup. Masandawana are in the semi-final where they are scheduled to play Stellies at the Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday.
