An early exit for Arsenal: and a major achievement for Fleetwood Town

Fleetwood Town produced a night for the ages by dumping Premier League champions Arsenal out of the Carabao Cup in a stunning penalty shootout victory. However, the League Two side’s historic achievement was momentarily overshadowed by a hilariously foul-mouthed slip during the post-match celebrations.

Fleetwood Town manager Matt Lawlor struggled to contain his emotions after his League Two side produced one of the greatest shocks in Carabao Cup history by eliminating Arsenal. The Poulton-le-Fylde-born coach watched his team secure a dramatic penalty shootout victory over the reigning Premier League champions at Highbury.

Fleetwood Town defender Conor Haughey has sensationally revealed that he did not spend a single minute practising penalties before firing the decisive spot-kick to eliminate Arsenal from the Carabao Cup. The 19-year-old showed remarkable composure at Highbury to secure one of the greatest upsets in the competition's long history.
