Tusker 3-2 Nzoia Sugar: Otieno brace helps Brewers harvest maximum points

Tusker FC have managed to claim a hard-fought 3-2 win over Nzoia Sugar at Kenyatta Stadium in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match on Saturday.

Timothy Otieno's brace and Michael Madoya's goal were enough to earn the Brewers all the points, while Nzoia Sugar would draw consolation from a Eugene Asike's own goal and Ian Simiyu's late strike.

Otieno scored the opening goal for Tusker in just the second minute, after receiving David Majak's header, and slotted the ball past Benson Mangala.

He almost added a second in the 12th minute but his final shot slid past the left-hand post - his beautiful combination again with Majak saw them open the visitors' backline with ease but were let down by the final shot.

Nzoia Sugar scored the equalizing goal in the 16th minute after Collins Wakhungu's effort hit the post and the rebound was deflected in by Tusker's defender Asike, who attempted to clear the ball under pressure.

Otieno put the Brewers in front again in the 45th minute from the penalty spot. He had been brought down by Chris Wesamba and the former Gor Mahia forward planted the ball in the top corner away from an outstretched  Mangala.

In the second half, the 2016 KPL champions started from where they had left before the break and went ahead to score the third goal through their captain and birthday boy Madoya in the 52nd minute.

It would have been four for the Brewers but Otieno's goal was overruled for offside in the 68th minute.

Tusker's defenders allowed youngster Simiyu, whom they thought was on an offside position, to score the second goal for Nzoia Sugar in the 81st minute.

Majak scored a goal in the 90th which was ruled out for offside as well.

Tusker will face KCB on November 9 while Nzoia Sugar will welcome Zoo FC a day later in their next KPL assignments
