Gor Mahia did not sanction star player Godfrey Walusimbi to travel to South Africa.
The Ugandan defender is currently in South Africa trying to negotiate for a possible transfer move to Kaizer Chiefs.
Walusimbi was conspicuously missing from Gor Mahia’s squad that did duty against Posta Rangers in a 2-1 league win at Moi Stadium in Kisumu. The absence has fueled the players’ intentions to quit the Kenyan champions.
Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier is equally puzzled on how the right back found himself in South Africa. Rachier has unequivocally stated that the club did not give Walusimbi a clearance.
“We don’t know how he got there because we did not give him any clearance. We have no idea how he got his visa to South Africa because the club did not give him a letter to facilitate application for the same,” Rachier told Goal.
Rachier now says he will convene a meeting with the club's National Executive Committee to spell out the action to be taken against the unsettled player.
“I received a call from someone claiming to be the chairman of Kaizer Chiefs confirming that he has the player in South Africa. We will report them to Fifa for player-tapping.”
Walusimbi still has a one and a half year contract to run at Gor Mahia.
Chiefs are said to have picked on the impressive Walusimbi to help strengthen their leaking defence. Walusimbi has been a key player for Gor Mahia especially this campaign, where K’Ogalo are taking part in the Caf Confederation Cup.
