Liverpool took in 63 games during the 2021-22 campaign, gracing every fixture available to them, and will want to come back into contention for more major honours at home and abroad when another season gets underway.
The Reds are now holders of FA Cup and Carabao Cup crowns, but were pipped to the post by Manchester City in the Premier League title race and Real Madrid in the Champions League final as Jurgen Klopp’s side fell narrowly short in a historic quadruple bid.
Confidence is high that more of the same can be delivered next term, with the potential there for further transfer business to be completed, and GOAL is on hand to bring you all you need to know about Liverpool’s on-field plans for the summer of 2022.

Liverpool 2022-23 pre-season squad
Liverpool have had an eventful summer till now with a few prominent arrivals and departures. Sadio Mane left for a new challenge with Bayern Munich, Takumi Minamino was sold to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, while 2019 UEFA Champions League hero Divock Origi joined Serie A champions AC Milan.
However, they have reinforced their squad with quality additions like Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay. Liverpool paid Benfica £64 million ($79m) upfront to sign Nunez, and could pay up to another £21m ($26m) in add-ons. He has signed a six-year contract that will keep him at Liverpool until 2028. Reports suggest that Nunez will earn around £5m ($6.1m) per year in salary, similar to Diaz and Jota rather than the top earners such as Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Meanwhile, Carvalho has cost the Reds £8 million ($10m), and as Jurgen Klopp suggests boasts the ability to “bring a stadium to its feet”. Their talisman Salah has also renewed for three more years putting an end to all the uncertainties regarding his future.
