Kotoko not ‘bothered’ by Songne Yacouba’s departure

Asante Kotoko confirmed days ago that they were in talks with Zambian club Zesco United over a move for Songne Yacouba, who is currently a top player at the Kumasi-based side.

Local pundits and supporters have questioned Kotoko’s motives in letting go one of their best players at the beginning of the Special Competition.

However, Chief Executive Officer George Amoako has calmed fears, insisting that an eventual departure of the Burkina Faso international will not affect the team.

“No player is bigger than Asante Kotoko, Yacouba or no Yacouba Kotoko is still Kotoko,” he told Kessben FM Sports.

“What I want to tell the fans is, they should come and cheer the team. They will get a better Yacouba in the squad in no time. They should mark it on the wall.”

Yacouba joined Kotoko in January 2018. He scored two goals and provided five assists in the team's recent Caf Confederation Cup campaign.

He is yet to feature in the ongoing Ghana FA Special Competition.
