Joksan completes incredible comeback to lift FIFA 19 Continental Cup

North American FIFA 19 pro Joksan ‘Joksan’ Redona topped the first major FIFA 19 event after defeating Basel’s Tim ‘TheStrxnger' Katnawatos in the PlayStation Continental Cup final during Paris Games Week.

The Epsilon player was an underdog throughout the tournament but overcame the odds, outlasting some of the world’s best players including August ‘Agge’ Rosenmeier and reigning eWorld Cup champion Mossad ‘MSDossary’ Aldossary, who was shockingly eliminated in the first round of the knockout stage.

On top of the trophy, Joksan is also taking home €20,000, tickets to next year’s Champions League final in Madrid and a limited edition PlayStation 4 which was only given out to France’s World Cup winning squad. But perhaps the most important prize of all will be the championship points which could help Joksan qualify for the eWorld Cup next year.

In Paris, it was a long and difficult road for the North America native as he had to take on veteran player Mohammed ‘Moauba’ Harkous in the semi-finals before he even reached TheStrxnger in the final.

You never would have guessed Joksan was the underdog as he picked the German player apart, winning 3-0 and 2-1 in straight games to advance to the grand final. The last hurdle though, would not be so easy.

TheStrxnger, who defeated Timo ‘Timox’ Siep in the semis, showed why he is one of the world’s best as he managed to win the first match 2-1 by scoring with the very last kick of the match.

The Basel player then took an early 2-0 lead into the second match and it looked like Joksan’s run had come to an end. However, he fought back valiantly and brought the score to 3-3 at the end of the 90 minutes before sensationally winning 5-4 in extra time.

With momentum on his side, Joksan was able to turn the tides in his favour. The North American came back from 2-0 down once more to secure the trophy with a 4-2 win. He couldn’t have asked for a better start to the competitive year and will be a name to look out for in future FIFA 19 tournaments.
