Delta Force’s Michael Okoyoh eager to end crisis with home win against Heartland

Delta Force’s Michael Okoyoh wants three points against Heartland in a Nigeria Professional Football League tie in Asaba on Wednesday.

Okoyoh is still frustrated with the events of their last game, losing 2-1 to Ifeanyi Uba. He is mainly disappointed with the fans' behaviour.

“What happened in Nnewi was highly unnecessary and uncalled for in modern football for the home team to assault the visiting team but I am confident that the investigation is still being carried out and that those involved in the act won’t be spared,” Okoyoh told Goal.

“It came at the end of a very tough game in which we matched our hosts in all departments of the game. A point could have been ideal for all the trouble we went through but it is on record that we lost the game 2-1 and we must strive to pick up points in front of our fans on Wednesday.

“I believe that a win will help the tension a little and it will also shift focus from the mayhem in Nnewi to an anticipated win. I want the players to fight from the beginning to the end to ensure that these three points are added to the ones we have accumulated already.”

The former Enyimba and Warri Wolves attacker admits that the game against the Naze Millionaires won’t be won cheaply.

“We do not have any easy game again and the one with Heartland won’t be easy either but we have prepared very well for this and we are expecting a positive outcome,” Okoyoh continued.

“We just want to make everyone in the club happy again. A win against Heartland will help restore that. We must go into the fixture with a positive mindset because our opponents will equally want to hurt us too.”

Delta Force are in eighth position in the NPFL Group B with 23 points from 17 games.
