Crystal Palace v Newcastle United Betting Preview: Latest odds, team news, tips and predictions

Crystal Palace will be hoping to put more space between themselves and bottom three when they welcome fellow relegation candidates Newcastle to Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Roy Hodgson's men are currently three points clear of the drop zone in 13th place, two ahead of their visitors.

Match Odds

Having been held to a 1-1 draw in Wednesday's trip to fellow strugglers West Ham, they are even odds (2.00) favourites with bet365 to return to winning ways here.

However, the Magpies ran out 1-0 winners when the sides met in October's reverse fixture at St James' Park, and are on offer at 3/1 (4.00) to give their own survival hopes a significant boost by coming out on top again.

Two of the previous three encounters between these teams at Selhurst Park have resulted in draws, and you can get odds of 11/5 (3.20) on them cancelling each other out once again.

Team News

Bakary Sako was forced off with an injury against West Ham and joins Connor Wickham, Scott Dann, Jason Puncheon, Jeffrey Schlupp and Ruben Loftus-Cheek on the sidelines.

New signing Islam Slimani is unlikely to make his Newcastle debut due to a thigh strain, while Rob Elliot, Jesus Gamez and Florian Lejeune are all also ruled out.

Home comforts

The Eagles will be confident of taking maximum points at Selhurst Park, where Arsenal are the only visiting team to leave with a win over the last nine Premier League games.

Having taken four points from Chelsea and Manchester City in that run, the hosts will certainly back themselves to see off a visiting team that has collected just 10 points from the last available 48.

Tips and Predictions

With just four goals to their name in the last six games, Rafa Benitez's men are sure to struggle against a home team that has kept two consecutive clean sheets in front of their own fans.

Odds of evens (2.00) look like solid value on Palace earning a precious victory against a Newcastle side they thrashed 5-1 in their previous meeting at this ground.
