How long is Marquinhos' contract?

GOAL can confirm that the starlet has signed a four-year deal with the option of extending for an additional season.

Marquinhos is reported to have signed a deal that runs for five years.

Who is new Arsenal signing Marquinhos?

Marquinhos has been used mainly as a winger for Sao Paulo, but he can also play as a centre-forward.

He is comfortable on either wing, but is left footed and his preferred role is wide out on the right so he can cut inside on his favoured foot.

He broke into the Sao Paulo senior side at the age of 18 and made his debut against Flamengo last July.

What has been said about Arsenal signing Marquinhos?

Arsenal technical director Edu spoke of his happiness at the arrival of the young Brazilian.

He told the club's website: "We’re delighted to have completed the transfer with Sao Paulo, as Marquinhos was a player we had been watching for a while.

"At 19, he is still very young, so he is a player for the future. We look forward to Marquinhos now joining us for pre-season, making his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us."

Arsenal's transfer plans for the summer

Arsenal are working on several incoming and outgoing transfers this summer.

The Gunners are prioritising the signings of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City and Youri Tielemans of Leicester City, who could cost around £25m ($31m).

They also have their eye on City star Oleksandr Zinchenko and Everton's Richarlison, while there have been talks with the agent of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Premier League team also expect to sell Matteo Guendouzi to Marseille on a permanent deal worth around €10.5m (£9m/$11.2m).

They are also in talks to sell Lucas Torreira to Fiorentina after his loan at the Serie A outfit.

Pablo Mari and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are also up for sale, while talks with Feyenoord over Reiss Nelson are ongoing.

Bernd Leno and Nicolas Pepe could also be sold.
