That's all for today, goodbye.
Stamford Bridge has seen fewer goals than any venue in the Premier League in 2022-23 (28), with Chelsea scoring 16 and conceding 12 in 15 home league games this term. Without a win in three games, the Blues will be looking to find their feet when they head to Wolves on the weekend. As for Liverpool, they too are without a win in three games, with their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League taking a serious hit. Next up, they host league leaders Arsenal.
It's a fourth successive goalless draw in all competitions between Chelsea and Liverpool with the hosts failing to make their chances count. Felix turned away from Matip before having his shot blocked inside four minutes, with James denied the opener after Fernandez was ruled to be in an offside position in the buildup. Havertz also had two scoring chances before the break. He first had a shot saved by Alisson and then dragged an effort wide before finding the back of the net in the second half. Looking to chip Alisson, the goalkeeper blocked his effort before it rebounded back off the German and into the net. However, VAR disallowed the goal as it came off his arm. Liverpool had two chances to score, both coming just before the break. Gomez was denied a spectacular opener by Arrizabalaga with Fabinho having a scoring opportunity seconds later. Jota's corner fell to him inside the box, but his strike came off Fofana and went behind.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: CHELSEA 0-0 LIVERPOOL
90' + 5' OVER! Mudryk has the ball on the left and sends a pass inside to Fernandez. He takes one touch before shooting over under pressure from Milner who was closing him down.
90' + 3' Liverpool have not had a shot in the last 30 minutes, but they have been the better side in added time and are putting Chelsea under pressure. However, they have failed to get inside the Blues' box with Fofana successfully dealing with crosses into the box.
90' + 1' There will be five minutes of additional time.
90' James' cross deflects off Robertson and heads towards the goal. However, it loops straight into the hands of Alisson.
89' Chelsea are the team controlling the ball and the tempo of the game but are rushing their passes into the final third. It has allowed Liverpool to regain the ball, but they too have been poor in possession.
87' James curls the ball down the right flank with Sterling running into the space. However, the flag goes up with the England international making his run too early.
R. Sterling
João Félix
85' Felix has been Chelsea's best attacker, but is now being given a rest. Former Liverpool winger Sterling is handed the last few minutes to make an impact.
85' Mudryk plays a smart pass down the left with Kovacic rushing beyond him to get to the byline. He then whips the ball across the box but nobody is there to meet it with Gomez getting it away.
83' Mudryk looks for Felix with a corner but Robertson gets across to turn the ball behind.
81' Liverpool’s Salah has scored four goals in 11 Premier League games against Chelsea – the only player to score more times against the Blues after having previously played for them in the competition is Kevin De Bruyne (five). Salah was also the last former Chelsea player to score against them at Stamford Bridge in the league, doing so in January 2022. He was brought on with 25 minutes left to play but has had just six touches and no shots.
J. Milner
D. Núñez
79' Klopp has decided to put more experience on the pitch with Milner coming on for Nunez. Milner makes his 610th Premier League appearance - moving above Lampard (609) into third all-time, after Gareth Barry (653) and Ryan Giggs (632)
C. Gakpo
C. Jones
79' Gakpo is also coming on with Jones making his way off the pitch. He will take the place of Nunez in the attack with Milner switching with Jones in the midfield.
M. Mudryk
B. Chilwell
78' Chelsea make another switch with Mudryk replacing Chilwell on the left.
76' Koulibaly lauches the ball forward with Matip heading it straight into the path of Havertz. He then plays it short to Felix who shoots over.
Fabinho
Yellow Card
74' Fabinho is the latest player to be booked for Liverpool after his elbow clatters into the face of Felix who twists past him.
72' Chelsea have had the best chances so far but have a history of struggling during the week. They have won just three of their last 13 midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) Premier League games (drawing six, losing four), losing both such games so far in 2023. They've not lost three in a row within the same season since May 2012 under Roberto Di Matteo, the third game of which was against Liverpool.
71' Robertson's corner from the left is cleared away by Havertz who heads it away.
C. Gallagher
N. Kanté
70' Chelsea make their first change of the game. Captain Kante has brought the energy back to the midfield but is now being given a rest. Gallagher is on.
M. Kovačić
Yellow Card
68' Kovacic spins on the ball under pressure from Fabinho but slips and lands on it before trying to get up. However, it hits his hand and he goes into the book.
A. Robertson
K. Tsimikas
66' Straight swap at left-back for Liverpool. Robertson replaces Tsimikas.
Mohamed Salah
Roberto Firmino
65' Klopp has seen enough and has decided to make two alterations. The first is in the attack with Firmino coming off for Salah. He takes his regular position on the right with Jota now playing down the middle.
64' Kante slides a pass to Felix who turns on the ball and gets past Matip. Getting towards the edge of the box, he tries to go past Konate, but the defender puts a tackle in.
63' Chilwell gets into a race with Gomez down the left flank and pushes the ball past the Liverpool right-back. He goes down under pressure from Gomez and wants a free-kick, but the referee gives a goal-kick to the away side.
C. Jones
Yellow Card
61' Jones is shown a yellow card after arguing with the referee.
60' Nunez takes the ball off Kovacic on the left and dribbles inside with it before drilling his shot straight at Arrizabalaga.
58' Havertz sends the ball from right to left with Felix chesting it down just outside the box. The former Benfica man then cuts it onto his right foot before driving his low strike wide.
57' Chilwell flicks the free-kick back to James who crashes his effort well over the target.
K. Tsimikas
Yellow Card
56' Tsimikas is the second Liverpool player to go into the book after a foul on Felix just outside the box.
55' Gomez looks to switch the ball from right to left with Nunez heading it back across the goal. Fofana is there and plays it back to Arrizabalaga who collects it under pressure from Jones.
53' Chelsea have failed to score in five Premier League home games this season, with four of those coming since the turn of the year. Only in 1994-95 and 2020-21 (both six) have the Blues failed to score in more different games in a season at Stamford Bridge in the competition.
51' NO GOAL! After a short VAR check, the goal will not count. Havertz's original effort was saved by Alisson. The ball then rebounded off his arm and into the net.
49' GOALLLL! HAVERTZ SCORES BUT THERE IS A VAR CHECK! The Blues have scored a deserved opener. Kante plays the ball through to Havertz who tries to chip the ball over Alisson. The goalkeeper makes the save but the ball bounces back off the Chelsea man and into the net. However, there will be a VAR check.
47' OVER! Another wasted opportunity for Chelsea. Felix drifts inside from the left and pokes the ball through to Havertz. He then lays it into the path of Kante who slots it through to Kovacic, but the Croatia international sends his effort well over the bar after getting beyond the Liverpool defence and into the box.
J. Matip
Yellow Card
46' Matip is the first player to go into the book after a late tackle on Felix.
46' Jones drills the ball across the box from the right, but Arrizabalaga catches it.
46' Will there be a goal between Chelsea and Liverpool after the break? Havertz gets the ball rolling for the second half.
Chelsea were the better team in the opening 45 minutes. Liverpool look frail defensively and are clearly missing Van Dijk. The Blues are regularly exploiting a backline that has rarely played together and are benefiting from the return of Kante but are not making the most of their chances. James and Chilwell have also been excellent but they have not been found regularly enough. As for Liverpool, they need to make the most of their options off the bench. Salah and Alexander-Arnold need to come on to strengthen the right side.
The game is goalless at the break with Liverpool having their best chances in the final few moments of the half. First, an ambitious attempt from Gomez was pushed behind by Arrizabalaga before Fabinho's goal-bound effort from close range deflected behind off Fofana. Prior their flurry of chances, it was Chelsea that looked the most likely to break the deadlock. Inside the first four minutes, Felix turned away from Matip inside the box before the centre-back recovered to block his attempt. James then thought he had given his side the lead with a drilled effort, but the goal was ruled out for offside with Fernandez past the last defender in the build-up.
45' + 4' HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 0-0 LIVERPOOL
45' + 4' Jota's corner from the left is not dealt with by the Chelsea defence with the ball boucing to Fabinho inside the box. He lashes a shot towards the goal with Fofana deflecting his effort behind.
45' + 3' SAVE! Good stop at the end of the half from Arrizabalaga. Nunez rolls it across to Gomez outside the Chelsea box. In space, the right-back shifts the ball onto his right foot before seeing his shot pushed behind by the goalkeeper.
45' + 2' Jones moves forward with the ball and slots a pass down the left side of the box to Jota. He looks to roll past Cucurella, but the defender gets his foot in the way and sends it behind for a corner.
45' + 1' There will be three minutes of additional time.
44' Kante and Havertz plays a quick one-two before releasing James. He gets down the right and swings a low cross into the box. Felix is there and gets ahead of the defender, but fails to get contact on the ball.
42' The following corner from Tsimikas is cleared away by Kante before it could reach the middle of the box. Chance wasted for the Reds who pushed men forward.
41' Nunez rushes down the left flank towards the byline and is tackled by James who concedes a corner. The Liverpool man wants a free-kick, but the referee ignores his claims.
39' Chelsea are not being too aggressive with their press and are allowing Liverpool's goalkeeper and centre-backs to have the ball in their own defensive third. This has allowed for their midfield to remain compact and limit the space that the Reds can move into.
37' Jones has had a quiet game on the left side of Liverpool's midfield and has struggled to move the ball forward. He is making his 50th start for the Reds in all competitions, but only his third this season.
35' Fernandez's long ball forward is played back to Alisson by Tsimikas. The goalkeeper fails to clear the ball away with Havertz closing him down, but his cross is blocked by Konate.
33' Chelsea have a chance to attack down the left with Chilwell bursting forward, but Felix gets his pass all wrong and sends it straight off the pitch for a throw-in.
31' Chelsea have defended well in the first 31 minutes, but are being helped by the lack of Liverpool's attacking threat. No Reds player has had a touch in the opposition box yet.
29' Kante breaks down the middle of the pitch and lays it to Havertz who rushes beyond him on his left. He looks to shoot from a tight angle, but drags his effort well wide.
28' Gomez looks to slot the ball down the right to Jota. However, the former Wolves man did not make the run with the Chelsea defence allowing it to go out for a goal-kick.
27' The game is back under way after a short break.
26' There is now a drinks break.
25' OFFSIDE! James puts the ball in the net, but the goal will not count. Chilwell's corner is met by Havertz who looks for Fernandez. He cannot get there, but it can only be cleared to James who lashes his effort past Alisson. However, the flag is up with Fernandez in an offside position. VAR has a look at the decision but decide that the Argentine is past Konate.
23' Firmino goes for goal from distance but Koulibaly gets across to block his attempt.
21' Gomez and Tsimikas have struggled to replicate Alexander-Arnold and Robertson in the full-back positions. They do not offer the same attacking threat going forward.
19' Liverpool have their first shot of the game through Henderson. A long ball out of the Reds defence is cleared by Arrizabalaga, but the Spain international plays it straight to the Liverpool captain. He shoots from distance with the goalkeeper off his line, but Koulibaly clears it away.
17' Felix looks to find the bottom corner with a curling effort, but Matip gets in the way to block his attempt.
16' Fernandez drives the ball to Chilwell on the left flank with the full-back setting it across to Kovacic. He tries to get the ball under control, but Jota takes it away.
14' Each of Chelsea's last three meetings with Liverpool in all competitions have finished 0-0. Only two previous fixtures between two top-flight clubs have finished goalless in four consecutive meetings – Everton against Liverpool (1974-1975) and Arsenal against QPR (1992-1994). The Blues have attacked well in the opening exchanges and will score if Liverpool keep letting them into their box.
12' Koulibaly chips the ball over the top of the Liverpool defence and to the left side of the Liverpool box to Chilwell who rushes forward. He then slides a low cross into the path of Havertz with Alisson coming out quickly to block his effort.
11' Firmino and Jota combine with the latter poking it down the left side to Tsimikas. The left-back then puts a cross into the box but Arrizabalaga is there to claim.
9' Liverpool are unlucky not to have a free-kick on the left with Kante making a late tackle on Tsimikas. The Reds would have had a chance to put the ball in the box after struggling to get forward at the start of the match.
7' Liverpool have lacked composure at the back in the first seven minutes and are clearly missing Van Dijk. Since his Premier League debut for Liverpool in January 2018, the Reds have won 71 per cent of their league matches with him featuring (108/152) compared to 52 per cent without the Dutchman (22/42). This season, Liverpool have just one win in four league games without van Dijk (25 per cent).
5' Chelsea have been the better side in the opening few minutes and should have scored. Kovacic goes around Alisson but his shot is cleared off the line by Konate who slides in. Tsimikas gave the ball away at the start before Konate failed to clear away Havertz's cross towards Kovacic.
4' CHANCE! Huge opportunity for Chelsea. Tsimikas gives the ball away on the right with Havertz playing it back to Fernandez who sends Felix away. He breaks forward before turning past Matip, with the defender getting back to block his effort.
2' James swings in a free-kick from the right, but Alisson gets there to punch it away.
1' Kante has brought an immediate sense of urgency to the midfield and wins a free-kick on the right after being taken down by Nunez.
1' Liverpool get this Premier League clash under way. Henderson with the first kick.
Chelsea start this game today in 11th place in the Premier League table. With this their 29th match of the season, it's the latest into a campaign they've played a league match while in the bottom half of the table since their penultimate fixture of 1995-96 (11th place – 1-1 vs Spurs).
As for Liverpool, Klopp makes six alterations to the side that was beaten by Manchester City. Konate is the only man to keep his place in the defence with Alexander-Arnold and Robertson both starting as substitutes and Virgil van Dijk out through illness. Gomez is in at right-back with Tsimikas on the left and Matip in the middle alongside Konate. In the midfield, Harvey Elliott is not in the squad on his birthday with Jones making a rare start. Firmino and Nunez also replace Gakpo and Salah in the attack.
Chelsea make two changes to the team that lost to Villa last time out. James moves up from the right side of the defence to right wing, replacing Loftus-Cheek who drops to the bench. As a result, Fofana starts at centre-back. Kante also comes in and captains the side with Mudryk missing out.
LIVERPOOL SUBS: Caoimhin Kelleher, James Milner, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Andrew Robertson, Fabio Carvalho, Arthur, Nathaniel Phillips, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Alisson; Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Konstantinos Tsimikas; Curtis Jones, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson; Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool were also defeated in their previous fixture, falling to a 4-1 loss at the hands of Premier League Champions Manchester City. As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s men are without an away win in their last three games, last securing all three points on the road when they beat Newcastle United in February. The Reds are four points ahead of Chelsea and could move into sixth place with victory if other results go their way. However, they have not beaten the London club in the league since September 2020.
Chelsea sacked head coach Graham Potter the day after their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. Languishing in 11th place, the Blues have won just three of their 13 Premier League games since the start of 2023, with their loss against Unai Emery’s side their third in their last six fixtures. The 2021 Champions League winners are 12 points away from the top four, but they will move up to ninth position with a win today.
