Kaizer Chiefs face reported three-way battle for outgoing Petro de Luanda coach Alexandre Santos

Kaizer Chiefs are in the hunt for a coach to succeed Molefi Ntseki who was fired in October 2023.Cavin Johnson is temporarily in charge at Naturena and it has now emerged that Petro de Luanda coach Alexandre Santos is a target of the Soweto giants, <a href="https://www.snl24.com/soccerladuma/local/premiership/kaizer-chiefs/alexandre-santos-why-chiefs-are-linked-to-portuguese-coach-20240515" target="_blank">according to KickOff.</a>But<a href="https://www.snl24.com/soccerladuma/local/premiership/kaizer-chiefs/alexandre-santos-why-chiefs-are-linked-to-portuguese-coach-20240515" target="_blank"> iDiski Times reports</a> that Amakhosi will face challengers for Santos' signature from Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca and Tanzanian heavyweights Simba SC.The two sides are said to be serious about Santos and it is to be seen if Chiefs are prepared to make sure the Portuguese opts to come to Johannesburg.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Santos has experience as a coach but his trophy record only has two Angolan Girabola league titles as the major silverware he has ever won.He has previously worked as an assistant coach at Al Ahly under Jose Peseiro and has been in a similar role at FC Porto, SC Braga as well as the Saudi Arabia national team.Having been with Petro de Luanda since August 2021, he guided the Angolans to the semi-final of the 2021/22 Caf Champions League , famously knocking out Mamelodi Sundowns along the way.This season, Petro Atletico's Champions League campaign ended at the quarter-final stage.
