  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Kane and Bayern Munich inched closer to the Bundesliga title with a 3-0 win over Mainz last weekend. The Bavarian club can now formally reclaim the championship this Saturday if they beat RB Leipzig away from home. The star striker, however, will not play a part as he picked up his fifth yellow card of the 2024-25 campaign in the last match and has been suspended.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While Kane is frustrated to miss the game that could secure the first piece of silverware of his career, the Englishman is planning to visit Red Bull Arena and cheer for his team-mates - he can be in the stands to support the team, as per DFL rules. BILD reports that he is likely to sit in the director's box with the Bayern officials and will join his colleague after the full-time whistle on the pitch.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The Bavarian side's celebrations will depend on their result against RB Leipzig. If they drop points in the away fixture, they will have to wait until Sunday to check Bayer Leverkusen's result against Freiburg. If Xabi Alonso's side lose or draw the game, only then will Vincent Kompany's team be formally declared as champions of Germany.

    WHAT NEXT?

Kane deserves to play a prominent role in Bayern's title celebrations as he has hit 24 Bundesliga goals this season - leaving him on course for back-to-back Golden Boots. The ex-Spurs frontman is under contract until 2027 and is expected to stick around in Germany for at least one more year.
