Simeon Nwankwo scores as Lazio deny Crotone crucial win

Simeon Nwankwo was on target as Crotone were held to a 2-2 draw by Lazio in Sunday's Serie A encounter.

The striker who fired blank in his last outing against Chievo returned to goalscoring action against Simone Inzaghi's side, equalising Senad Lulic's opener.

Just before the half-hour mark, Nwankwo benefitted from a Bruno Martella assist to pull the Pythagoreans levelled after they went down to a Lulic's penalty in the 17th minute.

Federico Ceccherini's 64th-minute effort looked like the winner for the hosts until Sergej Milinkovi-Savic's late strike ensured Walter Zenga's men shared the spoils; a result which did not help their aim of getting off the relegation zone.

Crotone are one spot adrift of safety, levelled with 17th-placed SPAL on 35 points after 37 games. Next week's final showdown against Napoli, and results from other games will determine if they would retain their Serie A status for next season.

Coach Zenga will be looking up to his lanky forward who has scored seven goals in 22 appearances for inspiration when they travel to Naples next week.
