Schlupp savours maiden goal for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp has expressed delight by his first goal for the club.

The Ghana international netted a crucial opener for The Eagles on Saturday to ensure a 2-0 away triumph over newly-promoted Fulham.

The Patrick van Aanholt-assisted strike at Craven Cottage is also the German-born's first goal for the club since moving to Selhurst Park in 2017.

“You could see how much it [goal] meant to me with the celebration and what a time to do it," Schlupp told his club's official website.

"I have waited a long time and enjoyed that one.

“Patrick and I have a great understanding down that left hand side. The moment he got the ball, there was a bit of eye contact for me to show him where I wanted the pass and he played it perfectly and I just had to concentrate on hitting the target. It went in so I am happy.

“They are a very good team and they play a system which means they keep the ball well so we had to dig deep, especially in the first 25 minutes or so.

"We managed to do that and get the goal at an important time just before the break."

After making 15 appearances in his debut season in 2016-17 following a January move, Schlupp had 24 outings involving 21 starts to his name last season.
