Marcus Rashford believes Manchester United have “taken great steps forward” under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but admits even more is required in order for the Red Devils to hit trophy targets.
Those at Old Trafford are determined to bring a four-year wait for major silverware to a close in 2021.
Positive progress is being made in that quest, in Solskjaer’s second full season at the helm, and Rashford sees cause for optimism.

“I think we’ve definitely progressed, if we look back to the team when Ole first took over as manager and how we were performing,” Rashford told United Review on the work overseen by the Norwegian coach.
“Even when we were winning games back then, it probably wasn’t the way that we’d all wanted to win the game.

“We’ve taken great steps forward, but the message remains the same. We’ve still got many more steps to take in the right direction.
“Everyone is concentrating on that and, ultimately, we want to start winning big trophies and winning big games, more than what we’ve done.”

He offered enough during a productive honeymoon period to land himself a permanent three-year contract.
Solskjaer has taken in 128 games at the United helm, claiming 72 wins, 27 draws and 29 defeats from those outings.
The bigger picture
Fresh terms for the Red Devils manager have been mooted during the current campaign, after entering the final 18 months of his current deal.
No formal discussions have taken place as yet, with United waiting to see how the final weeks of the 2020-21 campaign play out.
They remain in the hunt for tangible success on three fronts this season, having already suffered further semi-final heartache in the Carabao Cup.
Solskjaer has guided his side into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where they will face Leicester, while a 4-0 lead has been established in the first leg of a Europa League last-32 showdown with Real Sociedad.
United are also still in the Premier League title mix, although arch-rivals Manchester City have opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the table with 14 games left to take in.
