Hearts of Oak appoint Kim Grant as new head coach

Hearts of Oak have officially announced the signing of former Ghana international Kim Grant as the club's new head coach and director of football.

The 46-year-old, who previously had stints with Elimina Sharks and Sea Lions, holds a Uefa A Pro coaching license. He will succeed interim coach Seth Hoffman on December 1.

With Hearts failing to win any major trophy since 2009, Grant has promised to restore the club's lost glories.

"Accra Hearts of Oak is pleased to announce that Mr. Kim Grant has agreed to join the club as the director of football and first team coach," a club statement read.

"Grant will officially begin his tenure as of December 1, 2018. The club would like to thank interim head coach Mr. Seth Hoffman for his dedicated service to the club."

Grant expressed his excitement after his confirmation and promised to bring back the club to its deserved standard.

“I am humbled at the opportunity to lead this great football club,” Grant said.

“My sincere thanks go out to the club’s esteemed leaders for having the faith and confidence in me to return the club to its position at the pinnacle of African football.

"I understand the expectations at a club like Hearts of Oak and I'm ready to get to work. Under my leadership, we will bring back the never say die spirit and ask all Phobians to fully embrace and support this exciting new chapter,” he added.

Grant , who will be unveiled next week in Accra, played for Charlton Athletic, Millwall and Luton Town during his active days as a footballer. He boasts of 14 international appearances and one goal for Ghana.
