Aduana Stars goalkeeper Addo rues missed chances against Al Tahady

Aduana Stars goalkeeper Joseph Addo has blamed his teammates for their 1-0 defeat to Al Tahady in the first leg of the Caf Champions League preliminary round in Egypt on Sunday.

With the Libyan side playing away from home, Aduana had an advantage to at least pick a draw but Derrick Sassraku and Bright Adjei wasted several opportunities that came their way.

However, Addo is confident they will overturn the scoreline in Dormaa Ahenkro come February 21.

"We played very well and should have won the game with at least four goals," Addo told Goal.

"The chances we missed were unusual of our strikers because the quality in our camp is one of the best on the continent. However, we can't continue to think about the defeat since the return leg is just few days ahead," he said.

"I strongly believe we will defeat them with a huge margin in Dormaa Ahenkro. There is no way Al Tahady will survive this test since our venue is a waterloo to every visiting team.

"Since we're the only Ghanaian club in the competition, it is our duty to make everyone proud and if possible help to reclaim the two slots," he added.

The winner after the second leg will meet the winner between Algerian side ES Setif and Olympique de Bangui of Central African Republic next month.
