It did not take long for Bastian Schweinsteiger to make an impact in Major League Soccer.

Just 17 minutes into his MLS debut, the Chicago Fire midfielder headed home at the back post off a David Accam cross to make it 1-0 over the Montreal Impact

The former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder signed with the Fire on March 21 and was presented to the media earlier this week.

Schweinsteiger was thrown directly into the Fire lineup on Saturday, and started in central midfield alongside U.S. international Dax McCarty and Juninho.

The midfielder's goal did not hold up, as the Impact went on to score the next two, before a late equalizer Luis Solignac saw the sides split the points with a 2-2 draw.

It was a solid game for Schweinsteiger besides the goal, as he made a couple of key passes that led to good chances for the Fire, including sprining Solignac in on goal that was broken up by a professional foul from the Impact's Víctor Cabrera.

Schweinsteiger also narrowly missed doubling his tally on the day in the second half, putting a second set-piece effort just wide.
