Van Hanegem: Depay is like GOLDFINGER

Netherlands legend Willem van Hanegem has once again hit out at Memphis Depay for his personal appearance, comparing the Dutch youngster to James Bond villain Auric Goldfinger.

The new criticism comes shortly after the former Feyenoord midfielder insisted the new Manchester United attacker 'looks like he could join the Amish' as he arrived for international duty wearing a hat and scarf.

This time around it was Memphis' choice of boot colour which upset the 1974 World Cup finalist in Holland's 3-0 loss to Turkey, who was also angered by a perceived lack of effort from the former PSV forward.

"There are a few players at Oranje that only think about theirselves," van Hanegem told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

"Take Memphis for instance. He's just like Goldfinger with his golden shoes. But what is the use of that for Netherlands?"

"He just lay on the ground, it makes you feel despondent."

The former Holland international, who won 52 caps for his country, also questioned the physique of modern day footballers compared to previous years.

"All these players look like they are contesting a bodybuilders match," 71-year-old added.

"Back in the day you had players who were ripped, now they only look pumped up. That's a big difference"
