Tan Cheng Hoe names possible 26 for AFF Suzuki Cup

Football Association of Malaysia today announced the squad of 26 players to the final centralised training in preparations for the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup that starts in November.

Of the 26, 18 players were in the squad that faced Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan in the recent international friendlies which Malaysia won against the former but lost the latter.

Six players from Johor Darul Ta'zim have been added to the squad with Hazwan Bakri, Safawi Rasid, Farizal Marlias, Aidil Zafuan, Azrif Nasrulhaq and Syafiq Ahmad returning to the national team fold.

There was also a recall for Pahang talisman Nor Azam Azih as the Malaysia midfield was crying out for some creativity in the past few matches.

The players that were replaced are Matthew Davies who is injured and Fazly Mazlan. Three others in Nik Akif Syahiran, Haziq Nadzli and Mahali Jasuli will be joined by Nazmi Faiz in standby mode.

Tan Cheng Hoe will be preparing his team in Nilai which starts on Wednesday 24 October with the Perak players who are still involved in the Malaysia Cup only reporting for training starting Monday 29 October.

He will have one final chance to test his players in a friendly to be played on 3 November in Kuala Lumpur against Maldives before the start of the AFF Championship on 8 November away to Cambodia.
