Bans, bans and more bans. That was the outcome after the latest round of Football Association of Malayasia (FAM) Disciplinary Committee review.
Four players were slapped with match bans while an association also got into trouble after the action of fans after an FA Cup match.
Syamim Yahya of Pahang is the only player from the Super League to be involved in the review and he will now be missing from Pahang's Super League match against Kelantan on 8th April. The winger-turned-midfielder was found guilty of showing vulgar signs on camera during Pahang's win at Melaka United on 25th February.
Two Premier League players were given a sterner treatment with four-match bans following their respective parts in the scuffles during the league match between PKNP FC and ATM on 24th February.
PKNP's Mohd Fazli Zulkifli and ATM's Suhairy Johari threw punches at each other and will now sit out of their team's respective fixtures until and including the matches scheduled on 25th April.
Last but not least was Felcra FC's Mohd Firdaus Azizul who was sent off after punching KDMM FC's Mohd Helmi Sudin in a FAM Cup match played on the 26th February. Firdaus will have to serve a suspension of four matches that will last until and including the match scheduled on 23rd April.
While there's consistency in the handing out the punishments with reference to the offence committed, one wonders if the review process can possibly be improved from the now 18 days before the conclusion is made.
