Sporting v Barcelona Betting: Portuguese hosts to be no problem for Catalans

Barcelona’s Champions League adventure continues on Wednesday night when they travel to the Portuguese capital to play Sporting Lisbon.

The Catalans blew Juventus away in their opening match two weeks ago, winning 3-0 thanks in part to a Lionel Messi brace, and will be looking to make it two wins from two.

Sporting had a far more nail-biting match in Greece where they beat Olympiakos 3-2 after being 3-0 up at halftime, but conceded two late goals to Felipe Pardo and only narrowly escaped with the points.

Perhaps, then, it is no surprise that Barca are red-hot favourites to win this match and can be backed at 2/5 (1.40) with dabblebet to come out on top. The hosts are out at 6/1 (7.0), whilst the draw is priced at 4/1 (5.0).

Ernesto Valverde’s side have started the season in magnificent form, winning all six of their games to open up a four point lead at the top of La Liga and scoring a huge 20 times.

Messi has been responsible for nine of those goals and Sporting will probably struggle to keep the Argentine wizard at bay; he can be backed at just 4/11 (1.36) to net in the 90 minutes and add to his 96 Champions League goals.

Jorge Jesus’ side have also been firing on all cylinders in front of goal too though, netting 16 times in their seven league games so far, therefore backing both teams to score at 6/10 (1.60) is reasonable value.

That being said, Barca should have no trouble navigating the opponents they beat 5-2 and 3-1 nine years ago, so backing the visitors to win and over 2.5 goals at 3/4 (1.75) - a bet that would have landed in all of Barcelona's last five matches - could prove to be a winner for punters on Wednesday night.
