Rodgers beaming as Rogic returns for Celtic

Socceroos midfielder Tom Rogic has been labelled a "Magic Man" and a future star in Europe as the playmaker prepares to make his Celtic comeback.

Rogic hasn't played since mid-December due to an ankle injury but is set to take on Partick Thistle in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old's return to health had Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers beaming on Tuesday.

Tom Rogic out until April

"He's [Rogic] back in the squad. The magic man is back – what a player," Rodgers said.

"I think he can grow into one of the top midfield players in Europe.

"That's what he can develop into – there's no doubt he's top class.

"He's a good boy too, and devoted to his profession.

"He's a key player."

Rogic shines brightest as Socceroos audition

Rogic scored ten goals for Celtic in all competitions before being sidelined just before Christmas.

The attacking midfielder also missed Australia's two World Cup qualifiers last month.

With strikers Moussa Dembele (hamstring) and Leigh Griffiths (back) unavailable through injury for the match against Partick Thistle, there should be space for Rogic to at least see game-time off the bench.

"You saw him [Rogic] grow in the Champions league," Rodgers said.

"You saw him against Manchester City and you just purr at his quality.

"There was a big disappointment when he got injured because the week building up to it he was amazing.

"Top players know where there is space and he's as good as any I've seen at finding space.

"He's a great boost for us in this last ten games."

If Rogic comes through the rest of the season unscathed, he is sure to be in the reckoning for Australia's World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia in Adelaide on June 8.

The Socceroos also face Brazil in a friendly in Melbourne on June 13 plus they also have the Confederations Cup in their diary for later that month.

Celtic lead the rest of the Scottish Premiership by 22 points with four games plus the Scottish Cup Final against Rangers remaining this term.
