Rami and Kante to miss quarter-finals for France

France overcame a scare to book their spot in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 with a 2-1 win over Republic of Ireland, but they will be without two of their regular starters in the last eight.

Les Bleus fell behind to Robbie Brady's penalty after two minutes but Antoine Griezmann scored a quick-fire double in the second half to see his side through.

France will now play the winners of England against Iceland in Toulouse on Monday but will do so without Adil Rami and N'Golo Kante, who are now suspended for the game.

Rami and Kante were both cautioned in France's comeback win over Republic of Ireland in Lyon and their absence from the quarter-finals comes as a boost to both England and Iceland.

Samuel Umtiti and Eliaquim Mangala will now battle it out to replace Rami in the heart of the defence, whereas Moussa Sissoko and Yohan Cabaye will be amongst those vying for Kante's first-team spot.
