Milutin Sredojevic apologises to Orlando Pirates fans for failing to bring success

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has apologised for failing to end the team's five-year trophy drought.

The Serbian tactician was reappointed as Bucs' head coach in August 2017, following a disastrous season which saw the team fail to finish in the top eight for the first time in the history of the PSL.

“As we mentioned last year, we’ve healed the souls of our supporters," Sredojevic said on Vodacom Soccer .

Micho, who guided Bucs to the 2018 Telkom Knockout Cup final where they lost to Baroka FC, has transformed the Soweto giants into PSL title contenders having finished second in the league last season.

"The biggest happiness for us is that two years ago the team accumulated 33 points all season, now we have – with eight games still to play – 39 points, which is something we’re happy with,” he continued.

This season, Pirates are title contenders once again under Micho as they are placed second on the league standings - one point behind the leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Regarding feeding their souls, we need to apologise to our supporters, we cannot serve all the food at once. We are looking towards every match to be a good portion of feeding their souls," he explained.

“I hope they’re seeing on the faces and body language of the players that they are giving everything for the badge and jersey, and this is our ultimate target," Sredojevic indicated.

“We know that once our players are giving everything, our supporters will be happy with the effort we’re putting in, and once we put the effort and get the support from our supporters," he added.

"We know our quality will rise and that investment of effort will pay us back," he concluded.

Pirates will welcome Bloemfontein Celtic in a league clash at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.
